About Azarius

“To Avoid Having to Repeat the Same Things Over and Over to People I Meet On-line, Here’s More Than You Want to Know About Me

I am first and foremost a student of communication and sociology from the province of Quebec, Canada, currently especially interested in problems in semantics and ethics. I also work for a small “self-help”-oriented business and occasionally a ghostwriter and writer. Informally, I sporadically study philosophy, psychology and political science, and have some knowledge of design, nutrition and some other random things nobody cares about.

Even more useless information

While my native language, as well as usual writing and reading language, is French, I am also fluent in English, was once fluent in Spanish (not enough practice), and can understand a fair amount of Japanese, which I have been learning for two years; I have an odd passion for kanji and the melodic aspect of the Japanese language. I use this blog in part to practice my abilities as an English-language writer.

Overall, I believe that my results on the “Big Five” personality test describe me quite well. On a “purely hedonistic” level, my fields of interest include (but are not limited to) reading, writing, psychedelic counter-culture, Japanese subculture (yes, that means “anime and such”), botany and too many more for this list to ever be exhaustive. I listen to music continuously whenever possible; I am rather emotionally hypersensitive to music, and react very strongly to music I don’t like, which includes metal, jazz, trance and rap. As for a sample of music I do love, see my Last.fm profile.

I rarely enjoy movies and dislike western animation. Near-exclusively nijikon, I am intent on remaining single for possibly the remainder of my life unless I find my true soulmate. For now, I claim Shiraki Aeka as mai waifu. I am a theoretical agnostic yet practical atheist and worry about the mental health of most religious people, especially these who belong to silly sects.

My political views are highly libertarian, close to anarchism, and I am a fervent advocate of free speech and adversary of all censorship. On my own political orientation test, I consistently score over 80% “leaning towards communism” and 90% “leaning towards libertarianism”. In the same line of thought, I am a proponent of free (as in freedom) software. My OS of choice is Kubuntu and I like most Debian-based distros. The cousin of my cat being a somewhat experienced psychonaut, I strongly oppose the prohibition of all drugs, especially cannabis, LSD, MDMA, psilocybe mushrooms and, well, lots of others too.

To conclude, I like wild flowers, fancy shirts and cinnamon sticks (I usually eat a lot of these when I’m nervous or in deep thought), and dislike rain, close-mindedness and Brussels sprouts.
